How do you get to us?

Airlines:

Easyjet (Almería and Alicante airports)

Car ferries:

Speedferries between Dover and Boulogne are often the cheapest way to cross the Channel (call on tel: 01304-202420)
Brittany Ferries sails from Plymouth to Santander and P&O sails from
Portsmouth to Bilbao.

Car Hire:

Holiday Autos are usually the cheapest from all airports close to Villa Tranquila. At Almería Airport, Centauro and Europcar keep their cars next to the terminal so are a quicker option (a one-minute walk from desk to car…)

The villa is near Turre, off the E15/A7 midway between Almería and Lorca.

By air

The nearest airport is ALMERIA (80km/a 45-min drive). You can also fly in to ALICANTE (215km/2hr 10min) and MURCIA (150km/2hr). Both are an easy drive on good roads. All three airports are accessible with flights from Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands, Bristol and Stansted. A fourth option is to fly in to GRANADA, a three-hour drive away.

By road

From SANTANDER and BILBAO (car ferries) it is a 900km drive via Madrid – the roads are excellent. Driving directions can be found at the ViaMichelin website. Enter TURRE and Spain as your destination.

By rail

The nearest railyway station is ALMERIA. A sleeper ('trainhotel') leaves Paris each night in the early evening and arrives in Madrid next day in time for breakfast. You could then spend the day in Madrid before taking an air-conditioned Talgo train from Madrid Atocha at 17.02 and arriving at Almería at 23.30.
There's another route: take the daily sleeper from Paris to Barcelona, then a connecting high-speed 'Euromed' train leaving Barcelona at 10.30am and arriving Alicante at 16.45.

From Almería…

• Exit the city or the airport and follow the blue motorway signs for the E15/A7. Join the motorway in the direction of MURCIA.
• After an approximately 30-min drive, leave the motorway at junction 520. Join the 6111 in the direction marked TURRE.
• The road winds over two small bridges that span a gorge. Shortly after this, look out for a stone gateway on the right with signposts to CORTIJO GRANDE and CABRERA. TURN RIGHT through the gate and drive for around 2km, passing a terrace of white houses and an avenue of eucalyptus trees. Follow the road as it bears to the left and begins to go uphill.
• Pass 'Casa Barratt' and then TURN LEFT onto the next single-track tarmac road. After about 300m, the road turns sharply to the left. Drive slowly! After 200m you will see Villa Tranquila in front of you as the road bears left downhill.
• Take a RIGHT TURN off the road (signposted 'Villa Verde') and then TURN LEFT immediately into Tranquila's driveway. The name of the house is between the garage doors.

From Murcia and Alicante…

• Exit the city or the airport and follow the blue motorway signs for the E15/A7. Join the motorway in the direction of ALMERIA.
• Leave the motorway at junction 520. Join the 6111 in the direction marked TURRE.
• Follow the directions from "The road winds over two small bridges…" as above.
